Unitronic's Intercooler and Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for the MK8 Golf R® 2.0TSI® EVO4 is a direct OEM replacement kit with the ability to support 600HP and more.
This kit features a massive 23.5" x 2" x 16.5" bar and plate intercooler core made from T5052 aluminum and T6061 cast aluminum end tanks with proprietary internal fin and louver configuration. An upgraded turbo discharge pipe, throttle body pipe, silicone turbo outlet hose, silicone throttle body hose and silicone intercooler inlet/outlet hose is also included with this bundle.
Combined, this complete kit will help resist heat-soak and provide optimal and efficient cooling in any driving condition while eliminating restrictions in the boost (charge) piping which runs from the turbocharger to the engine, allowing for unrestricted airflow and maximum performance.

Improved Heat Soak Resistance
When intake air temperatures reach a specific threshold, the engine control unit begins to compensate to account for the air temperature, resulting in a decrease in performance. Unitronic’s core has 60% more volume than stock measuring 23.5” x 2” x 16.5”, allowing for a greater volume of air to exchange heat, which combined with a proper fin configuration, allows for maximum efficiency and reduction in heat-soak thresholds without producing a significant pressure drop.
Premium Components
Unitronic’s Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit featured multi-ply reinforced silicone hoses which are more robust than the factory hoses and will not expand or balloon with higher boost pressures. Additionally, Unitronic’s silicone hoses feature a fluorolined inner layer to ensure resistance to oil penetration.
Testing Data
These graphs shows the Inlet and Outlet Air Temperatures for both the OEM and Unitronic Intercoolers, individually after 9 runs. Despite the higher ambient temperature and increased inlet temperatures, the Unitronic Intercooler provided significant reductions in outlet air temperatures resulting in a cooler and denser charge air being ingested by the engine for maximum performance.
WMI Provision
Unitronic’s Throttle Body Pipe includes a 1/8” NPT port for convenient installation of a water/methanol injection nozzle. The location of the port places it in a safe location relative to the throttle body which provides an ideal location to achieve maximum Intake Air Temp (IAT) reduction (air temperature cooling) through proper atomization of the water/meth mixture in the charge air, prior to the mixture entering the combustion chamber. A correctly placed bung for the OEM Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is included as well.
